Why So Many Boxes

The times are changing quickly in the business world in 2020.  The eCommerce side of the industry has become a dominant force due to all of the regulations and economic shutdowns across the nation.  It has left our entire country changing the way we shop and also how we work.  This has left many people with no other option but to work online otherwise they won't have a job at all.  And on the opposite end of this it has forced many people to do most of their shopping from home and that has left us all with a whole set of issues all on its own and one of those is the buildup of all the packaging supplies from all teh purchases we have made.  This has personally been a huge issue for me and my household.

The extra boxes that keep accumulating in my garage have started actually become an issue and it is not a pleasant site at the moment.  The fact is that the more I am forced to shop from home the more I am close to giving up on recycling and simply putting all these boxes in the regular trash.  This has been the issue and I am tired of trying to tear these packaging supplies up and put them in the one single recycling bin that I get per week. This is an unforeseen circumstance of the lockdowns taking place in my State and City.  This is a problem that many people are having and soon it will end up with a trash issue probably on a country-wide scale if this keeps up.

I am not able to simply tear these boxes up to fit in my single trash can each week for recycling.  The main problem is that I am not able to use scissors because it causes my hands to hurt too much and my hands cannot take another large paper cut from a box.  These things are an absolute pain to deal with and I just started kicking them in the garage for a few months, but now it's time to deal with the issue. I found many TikTok videos on this and lots of youtube people dealing with the same issue and finally I found a good solution from a social media channel and was not known for using knives.

I am not known for using knives except in the kitchen, but this person gave me a good idea of how to get rid of the boxes without hurting my hands.  So I picked up a nice fixed blade knife from my local army surplus store in order to take care of my box issue.  I simply grabbed a pair of leather gloves and made a nice table to use to cut the boxes down to fit perfectly in my can.  The rules were only to cut away from yourself and never directly down so I might slight and hit my leg or other hand.  The video was very strict on that and it was because the knives will get dull because cardboard is hard on steel. It is even harder than wood and I found that shocking, but it is indeed true.  So after a few minute, I got the hang of it and after 30 minutes I had cut months of cardboard into small pieces and placed it into my recycling bin.
